Oh MAN, What a Plot Twist Another movie watched, another tear shed.  NoSeAceptanDevolciones5.jpg The movie that we watched this week is called Instructions Not Included [English translation] also called No Returns [Spanish translation] (link within titles). The movie was quite entertaining in many aspects. Although frustrating in some moments, there were other moments where the movie was very sentimental. I enjoyed a lot of the character development within the movie whether it was a quick one or over time. We found that a few reasons why the English translation is what it is because it is more humanizing, kid/family friendly,  and less harsh. We also picked up on the presentation of the two main characters, their matching clothes. That feature makes the movie seem more warm...

That Could Have Been Worse...We talked... This week had many interesting topics covered and questions answered or asked. We talked about the movies Documented and White People. We discussed what others first thought about another just by looking at them and our social location. We talked about quotes and how it made us feel or think. I emphasized "we talked" because this week there was a lot of discussion about things that could have went south. The viewers were able to see what it was like for the children to be on the train and the view points from them. It may be because we did't get to finish up our assignments the two days we were there. Regardless of what it may have been, our class dissuasion focused mainly on fixed/ growth mindset and academic integrity. I personally enjoyed learning about the fixed and growth mindset portion of the tasks given. Hey! I know I know I know, more reading right? This week we had a bit of an interruption because of our visitor Dorian, a hurricane, who caused us to have a week out of classes. Due to this matter we weren't able to have in class discussions, but we did have PLENTY of reading to keep us busy. The readings consisted of topics that touched on speech and communication. Durning the week I have learned about time management, how to implement different strategies to help with time management, apps that can limit different activities on my phone(to limit distractions), the honor's program, and other resources to help with completing certain requirements within the program. Let's hop to it... Starting off, the conversation with Dr. Engel, Dr. Desiderio, and Erin Martin was very informative, not to mention a bit overwhelming. I didn't contribute a lot into this conversation because I was so focused on taking in the information. There were a few things that stuck out to me about the honor's program: volunteer hours, thesis, and Service 912. Dr. Desiderio mentioned that Service 912 would help with the completion of the required hours needed for experiential learning. He asked the class what we thought experential learning was, and...

Hey there, nice of you to join me on my blog! This has honestly been some heck of a week engaging with many new and some not-so-new people. Particularly in my FYE class, I have met many others here, and we have had great discussions about the word "engage", along with a short video about college with incorporation of book and street smarts: "How to graduate college with a job you love and less debt: Jullien Gordon at TEDxMidwest " (link within name).  link: https://images.app.goo.gl/RXCYaNEANGivpfaC9 During these great discussions, I really enjoyed talking to my partner (Avery P.) about what the word "engage" meant to us. My partner and I found similar definitions such as, "to be involved".
